2nd leg race to nigeria masters: G. Inalegwu take leads in first day of the tournament

After a stuttering start this season, the Race to Nigeria Masters Pro/Am tournament season finally gets properly underway at the Arsenal Golf Course. There’s a strong field in Owerri this week, with new contenders and familiar faces. With plenty of players at the top end who could win it, this promises to be an exciting tounament with loads of surprises.

Emerging top on the leaderboard is G. Inalegwu who's 5th on the Order of Merit, the long swinger starts strong with two birdies and a round score -3 under (69), he's starting the tournament really strong. Last seen at the Amateur leg-25 tournament there's an excited buzz to see how well he fares in this tourney.

Following closely at second is U. Anoruo, a very familiar player with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys, playing -1 under (71). The player would be ceasing this opportunity to prove himself. He doesn't start out really impressive but we're expecting the best for this player who has been dedicated to continuous growth and practice.

With a strong tie L. Onjefu finishes with -1 under (71) to hold down his place as top of the leader board of. The resilient player would have to secure his spot on the leader board by moving upward or nothing. 
"I still have a few more rounds to break out of this tie and be the master of my game. I'm very hopeful" Onjefu said in a media chat with theafricantour correspondent.

Also tying in 5th place on the leaderboard is D. Ali and J. Alex who played 5 over (77) everyone seems on  guard. This is where the true heat of the season begins.
