In the beautiful city of Owerri, 1st Leg of Race to Nigeria Masters 2022 Season, 3 players Distinguished themselves from the rest of the field. It’s an amazing way to start the year with golf in other to sharpen the mind of the players for more competitive tournaments in the coming months.

 

With a great head start on the leaderboard is the No 4 on the amateur order of merit 2021, U. Anoruo. The Owerri based player started his round with a bogey, then a birdie which followed on the 3rd hole before making bogey and pars on the 4th, 5th and 6th hole and finishing the first 9 with a birdie, out with (35). A birdie, par and birdie on 10th, 11th, 12th, and with  a bogey on hole 14th saw him coming in with one under (36) and finishing  the round with  -1 (71).

“I’m very excited with my performance today and hopefully I should do better subsequently”. Said U. Anoruo who finished the game top of the leaderboard.

Coming close in second place by a one stroke margin is the resilient J. Ibrahim, who began his game with great promise after he finished his round with even par 72. 

 

In a media chat J. Ibrahim admitted to the tournament being challenging due to inadequate practice but was glad to have managed an even par.

If there’s anything spectacular about the last player on the leaderboard it’s his ability to rise up to the challenge. Albeit starting slow by playing a 1 over par 73, J. Moses is definitely one to look out as he races to the Nigerian Masters.
